this is one of the reasons why an academic study of race is important; people of color make the same mistakes in naturalizing race as a defining or universal feature. this is one of my pet peeves, people who try to normalize race. a common way in which this is done is by thinking of history that existed before the conceptualization of race in racial terms.

if you think that ancient norse mythology or whatever was racist then you are an idiot.
